BUSHWORLD

ENTER AT YOUR OWN RISK

By:  Maureen Dowd

I have been a huge fan of Ms. Dowd’s ever since I discovered her column in “The New York Times”.  She is pithy, funny and right on target.  In 1999, Maureen won the Pulitzer Prize for chronicling the Clinton impeachment follies.  With this book, Bushites had better take cover.

Ms. Dowd takes us behind the charade being played out by our current “cowboy” sitting in the White House and exposes the pretensions and lies while never stooping to distortion.  We get a picture of the Bush family dynamics and understand finally how in their hearts the Bush clan felt they were deposed by an imposter in 1992.  We also learn it is a serious mistake to take on this clan and its rabid right wing conservative supporters.  For self proclaimed fundamental Christians, these people know hate!

This studiously documented compilation of events cover the Bush (Bush junior that is) administration from inaugural, to the early days in office as the most “vacationing” president in modern times to his carefully crafted metamorphous into a war time president.  (Finally a reason to get that Saddam fella!)

My fear for my country has grown in intensity after reading this book.  It dispassionately examines the missteps of Mr. Bush and his “baying hounds” advisors.  Ms. Dowd proves emphatically something I have always believed - George W. Bush lacks any intellectual curiosity or moral character.  His motto should simply be- “What’s good for me and good for my wealthy contributors is good for the country.  If you disagree, you’re not a real American.”

A must read for Kerry fans.  It won’t happen, but it should also be a must read for all the dedicated Bush fans who “know him not”.
